Troy Swain, a talented wide receiver for New Plymouth High School, is preparing to showcase his skills at the Boise Dream Football Classic. Standing 6’0” and weighing 165 pounds, Troy is known for his leadership, hard work, good speed, and excellent hands. As a member of the Class of 2026, Swain is already making waves as one of the team’s standout players and a key offensive weapon.
A Family Tradition of Football
Troy’s love for football began when he was just in the third grade, inspired by his father’s influence and support. His dad played a crucial role in coaching and guiding him through the early stages of his football journey.
"The reason I started playing football was because my dad influenced me to play when I was in the third grade," Troy shares. "He would coach me up on what I did wrong, give me pointers on what to do next time, and always tell me when I did something good on the football field."
This early encouragement from his father not only sparked Troy’s passion for the game but also instilled in him a drive to continually improve and stay coachable, qualities that have served him well throughout his football career.
Goals for the Season: Improving and Leading
As Troy heads into the new season, his personal goals are ambitious. He hopes to attract the attention of college scouts and continue to refine his skills as a wide receiver.
"My personal goals for this season are to get some colleges looking at me and to become a better player," he explains. "I want to get better at the stuff I’m already good at and improve in areas where I need to work harder."
On the team side, Troy’s focus is on making a deep playoff run and fostering a sense of unity among his teammates. "Some of my team goals are to make it to state or get close to it," Troy says. "I also want us to become a family by the end of the season and win a lot of games."
A Committed and Talkative Student
In the classroom, Troy is known for his dedication to his studies, though he admits he can be a bit talkative when he finishes his work early. His teachers appreciate his hard work and respectfulness, especially his willingness to help out when asked.
"My teachers would say I am a good student," Troy says. "I turn all my work in on time, and when they ask me to do something, I do it. Sometimes I can be a little talkative if I get my work done early."
While Troy has yet to receive academic honors or scholarship offers, he remains focused on his academic and athletic goals, knowing that continued hard work will bring opportunities his way.
Excitement for the Boise Dream Football Classic
Troy is thrilled at the chance to play at Albertsons Stadium, marking his first time stepping onto a college football field. For him, this is not just a game—it’s a unique experience that he will cherish.
"I am excited to play at Albertsons Stadium because I have never been on a college football field," Troy says. "It will be a good experience to play on it."
With his talent, dedication, and excitement for the game, Troy Swain is ready to make a lasting impact at the Boise Dream Football Classic. His ability to lead by example and his drive to constantly improve make him a key player to watch as New Plymouth takes the field on one of the biggest stages in Idaho football.
