Tight End Joshua Curnes – Class of 2029, Coconino High School (AZ)

Arizona’s own Joshua Curnes is making waves as a versatile tight end with strength, quickness, and toughness. At 6’0” and 176 pounds, Joshua used his summer to sharpen every aspect of his game. His training focused on strength work, skills development, and agility sessions that made his routes crisper, his hands more reliable, and his blocking more physical. Already a dependable player, Joshua enters the season prepared to be a key starter and difference-maker on both sides of the ball.


Just as important, Joshua balances his academics with discipline and consistency. Early mornings are dedicated to workouts, setting the tone for the rest of his day. Whether in class, on the practice field, or in the weight room, he locks in completely and competes at the highest level. His goals this season include raising his production, being more physical, and setting the tone as a leader. With a talented supporting cast around him and a rivalry matchup with Flagstaff on the horizon, Joshua is ready to lead Coconino with confidence and grit.


Q: How did you prepare this offseason?

Joshua: “Summer strength workouts as well as skills and agility sessions with my trainer have helped me to have faster feet, crispy routes and better hands. I have been able to hit harder and be well prepared to be a starter on my team.”


Q: How do you balance your busy schedule?

Joshua: “Balancing school, training, and football comes down to discipline as well as time management. I’m up early for training, which sets the tone for the rest of my day. I stick to a routine as much as I can and make sure I’m handling business.”


Q: What are your goals this season?

Joshua: “This season, I’ve set a few goals for myself. First, I want to lead — not just by talking, but by setting the standard every day in how I train, prepare, and play. I want to increase my production across the board and be that dependable player who shows up in big moments.”


Q: How do you feel about your team this year?

Joshua: “We have some really good players this year in key roles. On defense, my friends at linebacker and defensive back are killing it, and offensively we have a strong quarterback, running backs, and tight ends.”


Q: Which game are you most excited for?

Joshua: “One of our biggest games that I am looking forward to is the city rivalry game. Our school, Coconino, has a record of beating the rival school, Flagstaff, and we are ready to continue that record.”back make him a rising star with a bright future ahead.
