Ron Hare: Williamsport Bears

Head Coach

Hagerstown, MD

What led you to building your own program?

Been coaching 25 years, I enjoy the game and wanted to make a difference in the lives of our youth.

What are the biggest challenges and how do you overcome them?

"Commitment from the kids with the day and age of video games. I make playing fun so they want to come practice and play."

Who impacted your coaching career?

"I had a youth coach named John Blake and he was the best. Then watching Mike Calhoun at fort hill high school and how he ran the program."

Do have a system or style of play that you prefer?

"I adapt my system to the players, I preach discipline in all phases of the game."

What do you consider a successful season?

"When the players get better from day one to the last day, (of course a championship doesn’t hurt lol)."

What quote do you look to for personal or team inspiration?

"I play Eric Thomas speech to Wolfpack football before games.

“Champions are made when no one is looking” is one of my favorite quotes "

Thank you for your time and we look forward to following your program!
