Quarterback Walker Mottley – Class of 2030, The First Academy (FL)

Standing at 5’11” and weighing 175 pounds, quarterback Walker Mottley is one of Florida’s most determined young signal-callers. His offseason was focused on speed and mobility, allowing him to extend plays and compete as an athletic passer. Walker has worked to become not just a thrower, but a true leader at quarterback — accurate, powerful, and poised in the pocket. His teammates look to him to set the tone, and he embraces the responsibility that comes with leading the offense.

Walker also places tremendous importance on academics. His Sundays are dedicated to planning his week so that he can excel in the classroom while maintaining a demanding workout schedule. Rising at 5:00 AM for morning workouts and hitting evening practices as well, he has developed the discipline required to succeed at the next level. His goals this year include maintaining high grades, adding muscle mass, and earning varsity reps as a freshman. With his accuracy, leadership, and ability to build trust with his team, Walker is well on his way to becoming a quarterback to watch in the future.

Q: How did you prepare during the summer?

Walker: “I’ve worked all summer on speed and mobility to ensure I can compete as an athletic passer and extend plays.”

Q: What’s your routine for balancing academics and athletics?

Walker: “Sundays are for planning my week and preparing my schedule so I can be disciplined in my academic workload but still be up at 5am for morning workouts and be at the evening workouts from 6-8pm.”

Q: What are your personal goals this year?

Walker: “Maintain high grades, increase my muscle mass for my freshman year, and increase speed so I can be utilized as a freshman and obtain varsity reps next year.”

Q: How is your team chemistry developing?

Walker: “As the QB it starts with me and building chemistry and having my team believe in me. We have been working nonstop to build that trust and I feel this season we will be able to show it on the field.”

Q: What do you think about your schedule?

Walker: “We play a lot of tough teams this season and in youth ball we are ready for them all.”
