Quarterback Evan Renner – Class of 2028, Desert Hills High School (UT)

Updated: Aug 22, 2025

Evan Renner is a sharp, driven quarterback from Desert Hills High School in Saint George, Utah. At 5’10” and 155 pounds, Evan brings a strong arm, high football IQ, and leadership that has already earned him the starting QB1 role on the junior varsity squad and QB2 for varsity. His offseason training was filled with time in the weight room, extra film study, and relentless practice, all of which positioned him to take on a bigger role this year. His goal is simple — continue earning more opportunities while pushing to eventually claim the varsity QB1 spot.

Academics are just as important to Evan as football. A 4.0 student, he has worked hard to perfect his time management skills, which has paid off as the school year began. He prides himself on never missing a practice, workout, or meeting and holding himself to the same standards of excellence in the classroom. Evan’s leadership has already shown through in Desert Hills’ preseason victory over a tough opponent, and he has his eyes locked on their upcoming matchup with Snow Canyon High School — a program he once played for in youth football. That game represents not only a rivalry but also an opportunity for Evan to showcase how much he has grown.

Q: How did offseason training help prepare you for this season?

Evan: “Training offseason has given me the opportunity to start the season as QB1 for JV and QB2 for varsity. I’m continuing to work towards the QB1 spot on varsity.”

Q: How do you manage school and football responsibilities?

Evan: “I have spent a lot of time working towards perfecting my time management skills, this is paying off now that school started and I am able to meet my class expectations.”

Q: What are your short-term goals this year?

Evan: “My short term goal is continued play time throughout the season, leading my team to championship victory and potentially taking the QB1 spot for varsity. I’m there everyday for every practice, every meeting and every event.”

Q: How did the preseason begin for your team?

Evan: “Preseason has gotten off to a quick start. We had our first preseason game against a reputable team. On the field our team executed jobs accurately with great communication and we were able to walk away with a victory.”

Q: Which game are you most excited about?

Evan: “Snow Canyon High School. I played for Snow Canyon in youth football through 8th grade. I am still friends with a lot of the players and am looking forward to playing them again.”

With leadership, skill, and a relentless work ethic, Evan is a player to watch in the years ahead.
