At 5’10”, Gabriella Diaz is a versatile power forward whose presence on the court makes an immediate impact. Hailing from Texhoma, Oklahoma, Gabriella plays year-round basketball, sharpening her skill set every season. This past travel ball season, she focused on developing her offensive game, and the results have already shown in her improved mental toughness and scoring ability. As she steps into varsity competition at Guymon High School, she’s ready to prove herself as both a dependable starter and an emerging leader.
Beyond her physical ability, Gabriella’s maturity and discipline stand out. She knows that success as a student-athlete comes from balance, so she makes sure to prioritize her schoolwork while also giving her all on the court. Her commitment to staying on top of her responsibilities, communicating with her coaches and parents, and holding herself accountable reflects her coachable, team-first mentality. Entering this new chapter with Guymon, she’s focused on taking on more leadership responsibilities while helping her team earn its place in a tough division.
Q: How has this past travel ball season helped your game?
Gabriella: “I typically play basketball year round however working on my offensive game this travel ball season has already started to improve my mental game to prepare me for this upcoming season on my school’s Varsity Team.”
Q: How do you manage your schoolwork alongside athletics?
Gabriella: “It takes a lot of discipline! I get enough rest and never put off my schoolwork! I have to stay on top of it and communicate any issues I’m having with my coach and my parents. I hate falling behind!”
Q: What are your goals for this year?
Gabriella: “I definitely want to continue to be one of my team’s starting five. This year, as a junior I’d like to take on a more leadership role with the underclassmen as well.”
Q: How would you describe your team dynamic?
Gabriella: “My team is really great! We support one another’s outside sports and try to always encourage each other; not just during the season.”
Q: Which matchup excites you most?
Gabriella: “Since I am new to the Guymon Team I am just looking forward to getting started and earning our place in this division.”
Gabriella’s coachability, high motor, and leadership promise to make her a cornerstone for Guymon’s success moving forward.
