Patrick Johnson is a 6’1”, 305-pound offensive left tackle from McAllen, Texas, whose size and strength make him an anchor on the line. His offseason has been all about sharpening form and technique until it became second nature, making him more efficient and effective at protecting his quarterback and creating running lanes. With his combination of power and quickness, Patrick is developing into one of the most reliable linemen in his class.


In addition to his physical growth, Patrick has embraced the mental side of football. He takes pride in studying his craft, soaking up information from coaches and teammates, and managing his time to stay productive both on and off the field. Patrick’s goals for this season include continuing to master his position, sharpening his football IQ, and becoming an even greater leader for his team. With a brotherhood-like bond inside the locker room and redemption on the line against Flour Bluff, Patrick is motivated to make this season one to remember.


Q: How has your offseason impacted your play?

Patrick: “My offseason has been productive, allowing me to learn and grow in my position. Form and technique have become second nature on the field.”


Q: How do you balance academics and athletics?

Patrick: “It’s all about time management. Make the most of the day being as productive as possible. Sometimes even creating a schedule can help.”


Q: What goals are you working toward?

Patrick: “One of my goals is to continue to learn my position and craft. Focusing on the mind as well as the body. To do this I try to obtain as much information from as many sources as possible.”


Q: How would you describe your team dynamic?

Patrick: “We have been fortunate and this team has built a brotherhood, a strong bond really to the point of being one family. We hold each other accountable on and off the field.”


Q: Which matchup excites you most this year?

Patrick: “We look forward to playing a very strong and talented Flour Bluff Texas team. They gave us our loss last year in the playoffs, so getting redemption is on the menu.”


Patrick’s coachability, strength, and quickness give him the tools to become a dominant presence on the offensive line at the next level.
