When it comes to hard work and consistency, few young athletes embody those qualities like TJ Rose-Alderson. Standing at 5’7” and weighing 145 pounds, TJ is a powerful presence on both sides of the line. He has spent his offseason adding 15 pounds of muscle through strength training while also sharpening his speed and agility. The results have been undeniable: TJ is more explosive off the ball, stronger at the point of attack, and prepared to dominate in the trenches. His ability to control the line of scrimmage on defense and offense has already made him a cornerstone for Oakdale Middle School’s success.
Beyond his physical development, TJ’s leadership and discipline shine through in everything he does. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while also dedicating himself to early morning gym sessions at 5:30 AM with his father, he has developed a routine built for success. His academic excellence matches his football IQ, making him the true definition of a student-athlete. Coming off a perfect 12-0 season capped with a Super Bowl Championship, TJ has his eyes set on repeating as champions. His leadership, high motor, and determination will be key in guiding Oakdale back to the top.
Q: What did your offseason training look like?
TJ: “During the off-season I focused on strength training and speed & agility. It allowed me to put on 15 lbs of muscle which has helped me be stronger on the defensive and offensive line. I’m also more explosive off the ball.”
Q: How do you balance being a student and an athlete?
TJ: “I’m a student athlete first. For 6th and 7th grade I’ve managed to maintain a 4.0. My dad and I get up at 5:30 in the morning to go to the gym before school, which allows me to focus on football and school in the evenings. We’ve developed a routine that helps when the season ramps up.”
Q: What are your personal and team goals for this year?
TJ: “One is for my team to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. Last year we won it going 12-0. Also, to be a leader for the team and set the example by working hard.”
Q: How is the team looking so far this season?
TJ: “We are playing really well together and focused on our goal of being back-to-back Super Bowl Champions.”
Q: Which matchup excites you the most?
TJ: “Week 7 when we play Oakdale. That’s our biggest rival. Two years ago they beat us in the semifinals. Last year we beat them in the semifinals.”
