At 5’11” and 167 pounds, defensive back Preston Brodd is entering his senior year at Mt. Hope High School as both a leader and a cornerstone of his team’s defense. Known for his high football IQ, toughness, and motor, Preston has worked tirelessly to elevate his game to the next level. His offseason was filled with rigorous training, including powerlifting, speed sessions, high-intensity bursts, and flexibility work. The result: a bigger, stronger, and more versatile defender who is ready to compete at his highest level yet.
Off the field, Preston’s leadership and academic discipline set him apart. Carrying a 3.83 GPA, he has developed strong time management skills that allow him to balance the demands of school and football. As a senior, he sees his role as bigger than just performance — he wants to pass down his knowledge, encourage younger teammates, and leave behind a culture of leadership and brotherhood. With a team that has adapted well to changes at quarterback, Preston is confident they can rise to the challenge. He has his sights set on their rivalry matchup with Pilgrim High School, where he hopes to settle unfinished business.
Q: What did your offseason training consist of?
Preston: “Yes, my offseason consisted of rigorous gym training, powerlifting, speed sessions, high intensity burst sessions, and full-body stretching sessions. I have become bigger, stronger, and more flexible. This is allowing me to play my position at a higher caliber.”
Q: How do you balance school and football?
Preston: “As I am going into my senior year, it’s become a normal balance. Time management is a crucial factor in making it all happen.”
Q: What’s your personal goal for your last high school season?
Preston: “In my last year at the high school level, it is my personal goal to rise up the upcoming players and pass along the torch. Leave behind what I’ve learned and encourage others to step up and be leaders and brothers.”
Q: How is the team adapting this year?
Preston: “Since our quarterback has graduated and we have a new quarterback this season, it’s surprisingly amazing to see how quickly the players and coaching staff have put together a team adapting to this change and becoming a forceful unit with cohesion.”
Q: Which matchup are you most excited for?
Preston: “I am looking forward to playing Pilgrim High School, as we have an unsettled debt to collect!”
With his drive, discipline, and natural talent, Preston is on the path to becoming one of the brightest stars in his class.
