Recruit Nation Sports Interview With Coach Matt Kelly of WPI

Matt Kelly enters his seventh year at WPI and fourth as offensive coordinator.

Known for directing the league’s most balanced attack, Kelly’s offense enjoyed a record breaking year in 2017. The unit registered 354 points, the most in the 128-year history of Crimson and Gray football and boasted six All-NEWMAC selections, including All-New England running back Sean McAllen. A season ago the offense remained potent, averaging nearly 25 points per game.

Prior to joining the Engineers staff, Kelly earned college coaching experience at all three NCAA levels. In 2013 he served as the defensive backs coach at Division II Pace. Prior to that, he spent the season at Division I Rhode Island as an assistant defensive coach and the 2011 season at his alma mater as the running game coordinator, offensive line coach and academic coordinator.

Now in his third year full-time on Boynton Hill, Kelly also teaches PE and serves as a home event manager.
